Air Pollution

As we start a new year, we want to focus on aspects of our world that have impact on both our lives and on the protection of the products that we make as a society. One of these areas is regarding pollution and the impact of pollution around the world. Scientists are finding more and more effects of pollution; most recently studies have found a correlation linking prenatal exposure to fine particles, breathed in by expecting mothers, to increased prevalence or effects of autism. This is a scary proposition. Even if this is found to not be true, the effects of pollution will continue to be found in new places.

World leaders are meeting to determine the best courses of action, but in the meantime individuals and individual companies are left to fend for themselves. There are many ways to prevent problems associated with pollution, namely corrosion and degradation. Some preventative measures rely on oils or greases to prevent outside air to come into contact with the part, others rely on changing the properties (pH) of the parts, and others seek to stabilize the environment around the part (via hermetic sealing or purifying the micro environment).

Many of these methods have been around for many years, some dating back to World War One. One of the newer methods is the Intercept Technology. This preservation technology relies on purifying the environment around the part, but it does not require a hermetic seal, which can be problematic for industrial parts or international shipments that need to be inspected to clear customers.

The Intercept Technology relies on the power of copper to react with and neutralize atmospheric pollutants that cause corrosion and degradation inside of the package, while preventing new one from entering the package. This technology does not rely on oils or greases so it is able to protect sensitive items like fine art and jewelry, and because it cleanses the atmosphere it can provide protection independent of size, since it creates a clean micro-environment inside the package and then forms a reactive gas barrier around the item(s) to ensure that what is inside remains safely protected.

The same things that affect your products can affect your health, for superior protection for your products turn to Intercept Technology, Simply Better Protection. Let us know if you want additional information on how we protect various items around the world, like precious metals, artwork, coins, and paper products for museums and archives. Intercept protects more than just metal items.
